SRE configure web proxy settings

Detailed instructions for editing the Internet Option settings to use the SRE web proxy.

Privacy

The SRE web proxy will log each URL you visit. UCI may also perform content inspection on all files that pass through the web proxy to detect and prevent malicious software attacks in the SRE.

Open Internet Explorer on your secure server

  1. After you log into your SRE server, open Internet Explorer.


  2. Click the Tools icon (gear symbol) in the upper right corner of the browser.

  3. Select Internet options from the Tools drop-down menu.


  4. Click the Connections tab in the Internet Options window.

  5. Click the LAN settings button near the bottom of the Connections tab.


  6. Click the Proxy server checkbox near the middle of the LAN Settings dialog box.

  7. Type 128.195.132.186 in the Address field.

  8. Type 3128 in the Port field.


  9. Click the OK button to close the LAN Settings dialog box.

  10. Click the OK button to close the Internet Options window.

  11. You may need to restart your Internet Explorer browser; the settings you just entered will be saved and do not need to be re-entered.

 

Web Proxy Access

You must have prior approval from OIT to use the SRE web proxy. Firewall rules will only allow approved servers access to the SRE web proxy.
