Sophos Enterprise Console Updates Aren't Occurring
This is one of the most perplexing of problems that can occur with the Sophos Enterprise Console. The Updates section in the Dashboard may stop updating the date and time of updates occurring on the server. In my experience, Sophos Technical Support can look at the various logs and determine whether or not it is a true problem. I've had occasions where the system was continuing to update the signatures on the server and will continue to provide updates to the users systems, but the information on the Dashboard won't update.
Sophos Technical Support "should" suggest the following in order to kick the updates to work:
- telnet loclhost 8192 -- See if you get a Connection to host lost result. If so, do the following order:
- Close Sophos Enterprise Console
- Restart Sophos Message Router Service
- Restart Sophos Certification Service
- Restart Sophos Management Service
- Restart Sophos Update Manager Service
- Restart Sophos Agent Service
- Force an update on the Sophos Update Manager
- Click on Updates in the Dashboard
- <Right Click> on Sophos0 and select Update Now
- You "should" see the Configuration column go to Does Not Match
- You "should" see the Download Status column go to Downloading Binaries
