Pilot proposal for evaluation of the Double Robot
Pilot proposal for evaluation of the Double Robot
- ICS will loan OIT 1 Double robot for a few months to evaluate
- The goals of the pilot include:
- Evaluate the Double based on some probable OIT use cases
- Document experiences and feedback
- Decide if we will buy 1 or more Doubles
- Probable use cases:
- Pilot phase 1 (approx. 1 month): OIT remote workers (part or full-time off campus) would use the Double to have an office presence
- Ask 1 or 2 current OIT remote workers to participate in the pilot
- Ask remote workers to schedule open office hours where others can visit them via the Double that would be located in an office, cube, break room or other accessible location during the scheduled hours
- Remote workers could attend meetings via the Double
- Remote workers could roam the office areas and visit coworkers
- Remote workers could schedule the Double as a resource in Outlook, or we could allow the remote workers to take turns using the Double. They could alternate use during the week, or trade every other week.
- Pilot phase 2 (approx. 1 month): To reduce travel between OIT campus buildings, OIT staff could use the Double to have a virtual presence in another OIT office location
- Identify some volunteers for the pilot, or allow any OIT employee to schedule the Double as a resource in Outlook (when not being used by the remote workers)
- Optional pilot phase 3 (approx. 1 month) to evaluate other use cases
- All users of the Double will need to return the Double to its charging station at the end of each business day
- All users would be asked to document and share their experiences/feedback
- We may want to survey the office for feedback after the pilot
- I suggest that the OIT Help Desk coordinate scheduling and user support
