Remote workers in DWH team

I met with Valerie Jones on 12/13/17 to learn about how her teams handle remote work.
Valerie has one full-time remote worker (Tammy Matatall) who works from Hawaii. Tammy is a senior software developer who also supervises one FTE developer and two students. Tammy also provides Data Warehouse operational and user support. She has been working remote for about two years.
Valerie said the remote arrangement is working well.
They communicate frequently using mostly Skype for IM, Zoom for meetings, and the telephone.
Tammy visits the campus 2-3 times per year for a week each visit.
Valerie also has two staff who telecommute 1 day per week. On their remote days they don't have a much of a need to communicate with others.
Valarie expressed an interest in the remote work information I'm gathering, and in trying out new methods and technologies to the increase effectiveness of remote work.
