Overview
This guide will show you how to navigate in ServiceNow using the Application Navigator (or left sidebar).
Using the Application Navigator
First, a little terminology:
- Modules - also called pages, they provide related information and functionality in ServiceNow.
- Applications - contain modules that serve a similar function.
- i.e. The Configuration Management application contains modules for configuring servers, databases, and networks.
.
- At the top of the application navigator, there is a Filter Navigator. Type in your desired application or module in order to search for it in the navigator below.
- Also at the top of the navigator, but just below the search bar, are three tabs.
- The first, which is the default, displays All Applications and related modules.
- The star icon is your Favorites tab. All applications, modules, etc. that you favorite will show up in this tab.
- Just to the right of this tab is your History tab. All recently viewed and edited items will appear here.
Adding a Page to Favorites
- Adding a page to your favorites is simple. First, hover over the module/application/form/etc. that you would like to add.
- You should see a star icon appear to the right, click on the star (above).
- After clicking the star, it should appear white.
- Check your Favorites tab, and the page should be listed.
Removing a Page from Favorites
- Removing a page from favorites is the reverse process. Click on your favorites tab.
- Hover over the module that you would like to remove and click the X icon.
- The page should be instantly removed from favorites.
