The OIT Architecture Review Board (ARB) reviews significant project proposals to ensure compliance with existing campus and UC-wide technology standards and for architectural fit using a modified version of the IBM Architecture Decision Framework (login required to view). If a project proposal may benefit from reusing existing IT components or solutions, the sponsoring unit will be contacted.
If a new vendor package purchase is needed, the ARB is involved in requirements analysis and product evaluation. The ARB ensures the solution is secure, meets campus and UC technical guidelines, and that RFP and contract language includes appropriate investment protection. Support and sustainability of the solution are a key part of the review process. Members of the ARB also coordinate campus-wide technical initiatives and participate in architecture planning.
See the OIT Enterprise Architecture page for details on how the ARB does its work.
