This guide will show you how to navigate in ServiceNow using the Application Navigator (or left sidebar). 

First, a little terminology:

  • Modules - also called pages, they provide related information and functionality in ServiceNow.
  • Applications - contain modules that serve a similar function.
    • i.e. The Configuration Management application contains modules for configuring servers, databases, and networks.

            

 

  1. At the top of the application navigator, there is a Filter Navigator. Type in your desired application or module in order to search for it in the navigator below.
  2. Also at the top of the navigator, but just below the search bar, are three tabs.
  3. The first, which is the default, displays All Applications and related modules.
  4. The star icon is your Favorites tab. All applications, modules, etc. that you favorite will show up in this tab.
  5. Just to the right of this tab is your History tab. All recently viewed and edited items will appear here.
  1. Adding a page to your favorites is simple. First, hover over the module/application/form/etc. that you would like to add.



  2. You should see a star icon appear to the right, click on the star (above).
  3. After clicking the star, it should appear white.



  4. Check your Favorites tab, and the page should be listed.

  1. Removing a page from favorites is the reverse process. Click on your favorites tab.



  2. Hover over the module that you would like to remove.



  3. You should see a circle icon with a minus sign in the middle, to the right of the text. Click on the circle icon.



  4. The page should be instantly removed from favorites.
