Overview

Your banner is what resembles a navigation bar at the top of your page, no matter where you have navigated to in ServiceNow.

Navigating to Home - Your Dashboard

At any point in time, no matter where you are located in ServiceNow, you can reach your dashboard simply by clicking on the UCI OIT logo in the upper left hand corner of your banner. This links home and will always redirect you.

Profile Editing and Log Off

These two functions are fairly straight forward.

  1. Toggle the profile menu drop down by clicking on your name and profile picture in the upper right hand corner of the page.

  2. You should see two menu items. Click on profile in order to view/edit your profile information.
  3. Logout is self-explanatory. Click the logout menu item to logout when you are done with your session.
  1. The search function is toggled by clicking the magnifying glass icon in the upper right hand corner of the page.

  2. Once the icon is selected, a search bar will appear.
Here you can do a

  2. Type in your search criteria and hit enter.
  3. A global search in ServiceNow
. Your search results will be comprised of knowledge base articles, incidents, change requests, requests, users, etc
  1. will begin. This is the highest level search you can perform
in ServiceNow.

Connect Sidebar

The connect sidebar is not used much in OIT as we use Microsoft Teams as a communication platform, but the chat icon in the upper right hand corner of the page will toggle a sidebar that is used for work conversations.

Help Sidebar

Clicking on the question mark icon will open up a sidebar with one menu option. Clicking Search Documentation will redirect you to ServiceNow's documentation (not instance specific like knowledge base).

Settings

The final icon is the gear icon that toggles a settings popout. For a more in depth guide to settings
  1. , and your results will be comprised of all related records including Incidents, Knowledge Base articles, etc.

Help Sidebar

  1. Click on the question mark icon.

  2. A help sidebar with one option will open up. 
  3. Clicking help will show you the related information regarding the page that you are in (not instance specific articles like knowledge base).
