There are a number of options with pages that are meant to suit various use cases. We’ll walk through each of them here.

Page name and placement

Page title and description

The page title should be “human readable” with proper capitalization, word spacing, etc. It is displayed in the following places

Descriptions aren’t required, but are recommended to enhance SEO (i.e., search engine results rankings). They should be no longer than a couple sentences.

Other metadata

There are a few other metadata fields you may find useful. You can find them by clicking on the Metadata tab in the editing interface.

All fields here are optional and can be safely left blank.

Author and Publication date

If you create any customizations that involve page indexing, these files may come in useful for displaying and sorting your index results.

These two fields values are also used in the page heading in certain circumstances.

Canonical URL

If your page replicates content from another page, you may want to provide the URL of the other page here for SEO purposes.

Page settings

Page classes

Classes are useful when applying custom CSS or JavaScript by distinguishing this page from other pages on your site.

Custom CSS and JavaScript

You can reference custom CSS and JavaScript files that are specific this page (as opposed to being included site-wide). These references are defined by the Custom CSS and Custom JavaScript patterns, respectively.

Thumbnail image

If you create any customizations that involve page indexing, you may want to select an image here that displays with this page’s index listing.

Layout options

The Layout Data Definition group is collapsed by default. Expand this to access your page layout options. Most of these toggle on/off their respective page region.

You can place up to two announcements in the Announcement region.

You can display up to two widgets in the Announcements region.

Selecting a non-announcement widget will result is a warning displayed the Cascade preview. In this case, the widget content will not be included in the published page.
