GUIDE STATUS: IN REVIEW

Overview

The Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is the way ServiceNow allows OIT to logically represent its assets, services, and the relationships between them. You can think of the CMDB as a huge database of every kind of service OIT can provide, every application OIT supports, etc., where each instance is called a Configuration Item. These CIs can be broken down further into classes, and just like any other record in ServiceNow, they have associated fields that must be managed. Follow the guides below to explore some of the key functions of the CMDB.
