  • Cognos Report Stats:
    • Number Cognos Reports to be developed for Phase I: 38
    • Number of Phase I Cognos Reports Completed: 14
    • Remaining Phase I Reports to be developed: 24
  • Report prioritization lists were sent to Accounting for approval (all have been approved and sent back)
  • Due to lack of time we have decided to keep TalenD server on Windows. This will be used for development and maintenance of jobs only. All data warehouse jobs will be scheduled using Zena and deployed as shell scripts on the UNIX job server.
  • Cognos browser compatibility testing is complete (student)
  • Moved Cognos Framework pacakges and reports from Cognos dev server to prod server

  • Re-architecting of PURAP fact table (Tammy)
  • Fixing problems with balance jobs. The balance table is much larger now and the job is currently running out of memory.We will work with WSG to add more memory to the TalenD server.
  • Build Cognos framework to allow building of reports for KFS reconciliation process (Tammy)
  • Document and provide data warehouse team the list of fund groups needed to add to the database for FS0150 style reports (business analyst/focus group)
  • Enhancement to DWH BOToolkit to allow calls to new KFS web services (student)
  • Prototyping of prompt pages for Cognos reports (student)
  • Scripts to add KFS attributes to legacy data warehouse (employee, payroll, fs). Coding is complete - currently testing every night for pps daily and every pps month-end. (Grace)
  • Updates to the org dimension job to add hierarchy level code
  • Development of scripts to migrate open receivables transactions from legacy DWH to KFS DWH (Anh)

Data Warehouse Support

DWH is operating well as usual, Grace is acting as primary DWH production support. 
Grace spent a significant amount of time the week before last working on a data extraction request from Payroll and UCIMC. This was an urgent request for a report needed for UCOP.
Upgrade to Java 7 - Student developer will work on upgrading DWH to Java 7 this summer.

Payroll Certification - Minor turnover to fix a problem with report display/pagination. Starting work to provide information to NSF for audit.

Next two week planned activities and deliverables

  • Continue making bug fixes to ETL scripts and testing
  • Continue working on approval for high priority reports
  • Plans for Cognos portal/user experience for Cognos (SNAP) - will work with focus group on this project
  • Continue report development for highest priority reports
  • Students will continue to develop KFS look-up reports and prompt pages in Cognos

Production support trends in terms of tickets either in JIRA or Footprints.

Staffing issues or personnel related matters

Our student Aileen is leaving this week to work an internship over the summer. Since our other student Matt has picked up Cognos so quickly, we will have him work on some of the projects originally intended for Aileen this summer.
