| Charge | The OIT Architecture and Technology Review Committee reviews all requests and classifies them. Additional people or experts are invited to participate in the review process in the case of more complex initiatives and occassionally, the committee will request additional information on a project. Some projects are immediately approved and placed in a queue for resource allocation and development. Internal requests are also prioritized and passed on the the appropriate implementation team. Projects that are of significant value and often require significantly greater resources than a typical 6-9 month implementation will be escalated to the OIT Oversight Committee for evaluation and prioritization.

Review Board (ARB) reviews significant project proposals to ensure compliance with existing campus and UC-wide technology standards and for architectural fit using a modified version of the IBM Architecture Decision Framework. If a project proposal may benefit from reusing existing IT components or solutions, the sponsoring unit will be contacted. If a new vendor package purchase is needed, the ARB is involved in requirements analysis and product evaluation. The ARB ensures the solution is secure, meets campus and UC technical guidelines, and that RFP and contract language includes appropriate investment protection. Support and sustainability of the solution are a key part of the review process. Members of the ARB also coordinate campus-wide technical initiatives and participate in architecture planning. While the decisions of the ARB are not binding, the Project Review Team relies heavily on the recommendations obtained from the ARB when determining priority and allocation of resources to a project. See the OIT Enterprise Architecture page for details on how the ARB does its work. |
