Overview
When you are listed as one of the approvers for an approval request, you will receive up to 10 approval request reminders until you respond to the request. Conveniently, however, you can respond to the approval request from your email, rather than the ServiceNow instance.
Respond to an Approval Request from Email
Navigate to the approval request reminder in your email inbox. The format of the reminder is shown below.
Review the field information presented in the email, then scroll to the bottom of the page.
- You are presented with three different links. If you would like to further review the information presented, you can navigate to the requested item record in ServiceNow by clicking on the first link.
- If the information in the email is sufficient for your approval, click the second link labeled "Click here to approve," followed by the requested item number.
- If the information in the email is not sufficient for approval, click the last link labeled "Click here to reject," followed by the requested item number.
- At this point, if you clicked on either the approval or rejection links, you should see a new email message appear that looks like the below.
- If a new browser tab opens instead of an email window, you need to adjust some computer settings first. Follow the guide Approval Response Opening in Browser Tab Fix to fix this issue.
- Finally, click Send to send your response via email. You do not need to edit any of the information in the email before sending.
