Extract Cogfgnos model dump from Cognos Framework:

  • Installed Cognos Framework on the computer.
  • configure the framework software
  • waiting for information to st up link to sub-version model.xml to do the dump.

Issues extracting the dump:

  • when opening the xml file, it works with firefox only.
  • as for IE, sometimes it doe not work at all, at times it works with IE7.0.
  • kfs_dss-dev.xlsx
  • Not all attributes on the list were available.
    • attribute like unique.domain/range. wondering, may be it is extractable from the database with SQL or using ErWin.



      Next Week's task.
  • create Spread sheet with the new metadata attributes list.
    • use SQL to load the data and extract it out into excel file :
    • go through the list of metadata attributes.
    • filled Cognos extract data to the appropriate attribute.
