Holden Room AV System Instructions
Before You Connect
If you need to use the room projector or sound system, you need to access the locked AV (audio-visual) cabinet, which contains the projector remote control, cords and cables, and microphones.
Keys to open the AV cabinet are available in the Communications & Events (C&E) office (LL544) and with Libraries IT. Email partners@uci.edu or submit an IT workticket for assistance.
Rechargeable batteries for the microphones and projector remote are located in the C&E office. Be aware that it takes up to 4 hours to recharge batteries, so plan ahead. Email partners@uci.edu for assistance.
AV sound system is controlled using the Q-Sys app. Downloads are only available for Windows and iOS.
Using the AV System
Turn on the Mixer and the microphone receivers you want to use.
Adjust the level knobs on the mixer to the correct volume for each microphone.
Turn on overhead projector.
To use the AV system audio and/or video, the ceiling-mounted projector must be turned on using the white projector remote. The remote requires 2 AA batteries.
Turn on the mixer, and each of the microphone receivers in the panel in the AV cabinet corresponding to the handheld or lavalier microphone(s), and adjust volume using the mixer.
For other audio or video, select input/output option (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, or PC 1) on the wall panel overlooking Ring Road.
Note the HDMI and AUX inputs cannot be used at the same time. The wall panel overlooking Ring Road will require you to select one option.
For video or presentation display, connect a laptop to the wall input overlooking Gateway Plaza using an HDMI cord (located in the bottom drawer of the AV cabinet), and select HDMI 1 on the wall panel overlooking Ring Road.
To play audio only, you can use the AUX cord (hanging out from the top of the AV cabinet) to connect an iPad or other device headphone port to the AUX cord.
Once done with AV system, remove all batteries; return microphones, cables, and remote to the bottom drawer; and lock the AV cabinet. Then return key to C&E office or IT, and return batteries to C&E office.
