2018 KFS Org Hierarchy Changes

This wiki page will be used to document all of the work needed to test the KFS org hierarchy changes that will occur in September 2018.

Plans

Database

We will use the dss_test database to test the org changes on lunar

We will need to ask the dba team to create a new stage_kfs database (stage_kfs_test), copy stage_kfs to this new db

ETL

For incremental loads, the tables will need to be truncated on stage_kfs_test and ods_kbm schema

Need to verify that the table definitions on dss_test match dss, update when necessary or drop/create

We will run the workflows as needed manually

The KFS_UCP environment is refreshed from prod every Monday. Keiko manually runs a script to update the orgs after the environment is refreshed.

Anh will manually change the source to KFS_UCP, and change the target to dss_test and stage_kfs_test before running the workflows

KFS Org Hierarchy Analysis

Create new Cognos folders for test packages and reports (Hidden Org Test)

Copy Cognos Packages, point them to dss_test

Copy reports to point to new packages

Modify reports per Matt's spreadsheet 

Test all reports, fix problems as needed

For reports currently in development, we can make the changes to the org prompt now, test and move to prod BUT they will still need to be copied to the new test folder and re-tested once we have the new Org data

Once all reports pass our sanity test, we will hand off to Kevin for testing

We will test reports in Cognos directly, not move to staging portal

Once reports are ready for deploy, they will be copied to the Hidden QA folder

How will we test the changes on MySQL and OLTP SQL Server (titania?)
