Issue
Since the database names are different on dev ('dss_kfs7') vs prod ('dss'), it will take the BI team at least two days for two developers (16 hours/each) to validate all the reports (>100) after the catalog name is changed. They would prefer to do this in advance of the upgrade weekend so there isn't a rush to get this done.
Proposed solution 1:
Rename 'dss' to 'dss_ucpath_ucop'
Rename 'dss_kfs7' to 'dss'
Work for ETL Team: Change Informatica parameter value for dev connection. Request DB name change.
Work for DWQuery: CONFIG.txt change and tomcat restart
Work for Cognos Team: Modifying the production datasource connection to change DB from solar to lunar, test the datasource connection in the framework project, re-publish packages and validate reports.
Pros: Won't need to ask for more space on lunar, ETL & DWQuery can be switched quickly
Cons: Dev reports will be down up to a week and a half while Cognos team is validating reports after connection change. DBA team might have an issue due to the fact that the datafile name will no longer match the database name.

Copy 'dss' to 'dss_ucpath_ucop'
Copy 'dss_kfs7' to 'dss'
Work for ETL Team: Change Informatica parameter value for dev connection. Work with DBA team to try to clean up space on lunar so there is enough room to make the copies.
Work for DWQuery: CONFIG.txt change and tomcat restart
Work for Cognos Team: Modifying the production datasource connection to change DB from solar to lunar, test the datasource connection in the framework project, re-publish packages and validate reports.
Pros: 'dss_kfs7' will still exist, so the Cognos reports will still be functional while they make the switch to 'dss' (with minor disruptions while the report is being migrated). ETL & DWQuery can be switched quickly
Cons: Might need to request more space on lunar, which might take up to 2 weeks. Would have to ask DBA team.

BI Team: Review this document, let Pramod and Valerie know if there is any information missing.
Eufemia: Give Pramod the SQL script to validate row counts
Pramod: Ask DBA team if we can make the DB copies, try to clean up lunar if needed. Run Eufemia's SQL Validation script on solar Saturday morning before he runs the alter table scripts for the KFS7 upgrade.
