Hardware specifications for AdCom Desktop Support-supported systems

New Desktop PCs

Current specifications are:

  • HP dc7800 Small Form Factor
  • Intel Core2Duo E6550 (2.33GHz/1333MHz FSB/4Mb L2 cache)
  • 2Gb PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM (2 DIMMs)
  • 80Gb 7200rpm SATA/300 HDD
  • DVD+/-RW SATA optical drive
  • GMA3100 integrated graphics
  • 10/100/1000 integrated ethernet
  • USB keyboard/mouse

80Plus energy-efficient power supply

  • 3-year warranty
  • $636 + tax as of Q1 2008

System is Energy Star 4.0 complaint and meets EPEAT Gold requirements.

Approved changes to these specifications are acceptable.

Minimum Desktop PCs

Current minimum standards are based on our current intended migration to Windows Vista in 2008. PCs not meeting the specifications below should be replaced or upgraded prior to Vista rollout. All PCs should be planned for a 3-4 year replacement cycle.

  • 1.7GHz Intel Pentium 4
  • 1Gb DDR RAM
  • 40Gb HDD
  • CDROM drive
  • Intel Extreme Graphics, ATI Radeon 7500, nVidia TNT2 or better graphics
  • 10/100 ethernet

Compaq Evo D510 models and newer meet these specifications.

New notebook PCs

Current specifications are:

Compaq nc6000 models and newer meet these specifications.

Monitors

All monitors should be LCD-based energy-saving models. Due to support agreement terms and high quality, we are recommending monitors by:

  • NEC Display Solutions
  • Samsung Electronics
  • HP

Standard sizing is 19" 4:3 conventional displays at 1280x1024 resolutions. Other sizes are acceptable. Please note some older PCs are not capable of proper display on widescreen monitors. Multiple monitor configurations are acceptable. Please consult AdCom Desktop Support for PC hardware requirements.

Printers

Please choose printing devices carefully. They are generally expected to have long service lives, are fixed function (i.e. not reconfigurable like a PC to suit changing needs), and can be a major cost center if not chosen appropriately. Consulting AdCom Desktop Support before purchase is recommended.

  • Personal/local - Samsung ML-3051, HP LaserJet P2015, HP Color LaserJet 2605
  • Workgroup - Samsung ML-3561, HP LaserJet P3005, HP Color LaserJet, HP Color LaserJet CP3505
  • Large Workgroup/Departmental - HP LaserJet 4250, HP Color LaserJet 4700

For multifunction (print/copy/fax/scan), inkjet, or other specialized requirements, please consult AdCom Desktop Support.

Due to compatibility with legacy applications and mainframe remote printing, all laser-based printers must support HP PCL or PostScript languages. "Host-based" printing is highly NOT recommended.
