Overview
UCI Decision Support Services (UCI DSS) provides integrated, clean, timely, consistent, and documented data for reporting and analysis. Campus decision-makers and analysts can use UCI DSS to answer their business questions quickly and efficiently.
Data typically are extracted from their source systems at defined points in time, and loaded into various data repositories that can be queried for reporting and analysis.
We currently leverage a number of tools for accessing these data repositories, such as IBM Cognos, Legacy Data Warehouse, the Electronic Document Library (EDL), and eDocs Document Images.
The campus Business Intelligence team has launched a project to standardize these data repositories into one Enterprise Data Warehouse and to consolidate the various reporting tools. IBM Cognos will be the new standard for delivering dashboards, reports, ad-hoc query capabilities and other functionality. This effort began with the KFS launch in July 2014, and we expect to complete the transition by 2017, coinciding with the launch of the new Student Information System and UCPath.

Requesting Access
- Access to services is based on your campus roles & responsibilities and is only available with a UCINetID.
- To gain access to systems related to your role, contact your Departmental Security Administrator (DSA) or call the OIT Helpdesk at x4-2222 or email oit@uci.edu.
- VPN may be required once you are granted access. DUO second factor authentication may also be required for some data access.
Getting Help
- To report a problem, please reference the corresponding Help Contact in the chart above.
- To request a new report, changes to a report or to request new data, email oit@uci.edu and include a description of what you need, why you need it, and when you need the service by.
General Availability
For general hours of operation, please reference the corresponding Availability column in the chart above.
In addition, the scheduled maintenance windows for Cognos are:
Mondays 10:00 pm - 12:00 am
Saturdays 2:00 - 4:00 am
