  1. To get started, please request an account here: https://applications.oit.uci.edu/LastPass/. Once you enroll a setup e-mail will get sent to the e-mail address associated with your UCINetID. The sign-up e–mail will look partly like this:

  2. Make sure to log out of all LastPass accounts you are signed into on the device you are using or when you click on the Activate LastPass button, it will show you a "Sign out of all accounts" message. From there, you will be able to create a master password for your account and create a hint for it. When you create a New Master Password, you may get a message from your browser saying that it will save your password in your Google account if you choose to go with the default random password given. Make sure to create your own master password as the default random password would be saved to your browser.
  3. Once that's completed, a Congratulations message will show and and ask you to install the toolbar. You do not need to install the toolbar, but the toolbar is necessary to access the Account Recovery feature if you lose your master password.

  4. Login through the toolbar if it's installed, by clicking on the three dots in the red square at the top right corner. This is LastPass's icon.  If you wish to not install the toolbar, visit the LastPass website login page to login.
  5. You will need to setup DUO Security two-factor in order to continue as shown below. If you do not yet have DUO, please follow the instructions located here: DUO User Guide

  6. Please enter in your UCINetID for this field.
  7. Once that's done, another Congratulations message will show up. It'll ask again to install the Browser toolbar. You can ignore that message if you've already installed the toolbar or if you wish to not install it. Click the LastPass icon at the top-right of the browser. and then on the "Open My Vault" option if the toolbar is installed. If not, visit the LastPass website login page to login.

  8. Log into LastPass with your UCINetID and LastPass Enterprise password. A DUO notification will also be sent to your mobile device to login.

  9. Click on the toolbar at the top and press on Open my vault. You are now able to access your vault and add items.

  1. Who is able to receive a LastPass Enterprise account?
  2. What should the LastPass Enterprise Account be used for?
    • The account should be used to store information related to UC Irvine. When someone leaves the university, the individual will no longer be able to access their Enterprise account.
  3. What if I already have a LastPass account?
    • If you have a Free or Premium LastPass account under a different e-mail address and not your UCINetID@uci.edu address, you can link your personal account to your Enterprise account. The two accounts will remain separate but you will be able to go back and forth between the two vaults. UC Irvine has no access to any information for personal vaults. If someone leaves the university, they won't be able to access the Enterprise account but they'll keep their personal one. 
  4. Can administrators see my information?
    • Administrators are not able to see any usernames, passwords, or secure notes. In order for LastPass Enterprise to be administered, there are a select few administrators who are able to see sites visited. Apart from these people, no one else has any access to information for other accounts. 
  5. How can I reset my master password?
    • LastPass has the Account Recovery feature that requires the use of the LastPass toolbar installed. You will need to have logged in at least once using it. The OIT Help Desk is also may be able to assist in resetting the master password, but it is not guaranteed since the toolbar still needs to have been installed and used.

  7. How can I share passwords?
    • There is the option to share passwords in the console. Shared folders can also be created where users can share passwords between each other. 
  8. Do I or my department have to pay to use LastPass Enterprise?
    • Neither you nor your department needs to pay for using this service.
